Y13 Art Drawing Day at The National Gallery and The National Portrait Gallery

The aim of the trip was for students to add valuable observational and contextual material to their latest coursework project titled ‘Triptych’.

Students drew inspiration from the museums’ many paintings and artifacts as well as from the buildings and the locality itself. It was clear that the students were engaged with the process, and they produced some great observational sketches on the day.

Duke of Edinburgh News
A Successful Start to the Year!

It's been a busy and successful start to the new academic year for our Duke of Edinburgh students!

Award Achievements:

  • Bronze Award: A fantastic 56% of last year's Year 9 students have already achieved their Bronze award.
  • Silver Award: Half of our Year 10 students from last year have successfully gained their Silver award.

Gold Award Relaunch:

The Gold award program has restarted, with 15 students completing their first training session on October 1st. They are preparing for a six-day expedition in the Brecon Beacons during the October half-term.

Record Participation:

We have record numbers this year: 68 Year 9s for Bronze and nearly 40 Year 10s for Silver. Please support them!

New Volunteering & Donations:

We've been busy instigating some exciting new volunteering activities, currently being trialled with our Silver award students. As you can see in the pictures below, two of our allotment volunteers are working diligently, building up an appetite for their well-deserved cakes and buns! We are also exploring how these students can assist with in-school equipment organisation and even help mentor our Bronze participants. These are truly exciting times!

Parental Involvement & Donations:

We are always grateful for parental support. If any parents have activities that would be suitable for students to undertake as volunteering opportunities, please do get in touch.

We are also in need of equipment! If you happen to have any lightweight and small tents that are no longer used, we would be delighted to give them a new home. Donations of walking boots and waterproofs would also be incredibly helpful.

Following a successful Gold parents' meeting, a Bronze meeting will follow shortly where we will introduce our new DofE colleague, welcome Joe.
