Maths Student of the Week

Monica 8R – For working incredibly hard in every lesson and being fully engaged. Well done!

Year 7 – Team Building Day

On Wednesday 4 September, our new Year 7 students took part in an exciting on-site team-building day led by the WiseUp team. The day was designed to help pupils settle into secondary school life and build friendships whilst developing important teamwork and problem-solving skills.

Students were challenged with a range of interactive activities that encouraged them to communicate, think creatively and support one another. By the end of the day, Year 7 had not only learned more about each other but also about the value of collaboration and perseverance.

Emilie 7T:
"We got to play in teams, it was a really fun experience!"

Sofia 7T
"It really, really helped me make friends in my new class. I really believe that some of the friends I made that day will stay with me for life. Thank you, Wise -Up!!"

We are proud of how well our students embraced the challenges, and we look forward to seeing them continue to build on these skills as they embark on their journey at CSG!

CSG Writes Poetry

Sadie (8T) has written a beautiful poem which has really impressed the whole English department! We love it when students ask us to read creative work they have completed in their own time, and we're really proud of Sadie!

Ms Gibson & Ms Essery

She was poetry, but he couldn’t read

Each sight a stanza, each glance a need.
Her silence spoke in sacred verse,

But he heard noise, or something worse.

She moved like rhythm, soft and slow

Where metaphors bloom and grow.

Each laugh, a line; each tear, a pause.

He missed the meaning, and the cause.

She offered him a woven page

Of longing, light and quiet rage.

He flipped through moments, out of place

Never seeing her truest face.

She whispered truth in symbols rare,

While he’d just see a blank stare.

She danced in couplets, wrote in fire

He looked for facts, not soul, not lyre.

And when she left, no word was said,

Her book half closed,

Her verses bled.

Still he holds her, never knew

The lines she wrote were all for you.

Conor Gearty

The school was saddened to learn of the sudden death on 11 September of Conor Gearty, a friend and great supporter of the school.  He was a parent to Eliza and Owen, who both attended the school, and for many years a very active Governor.  Conor's legendary eloquence, charm, intelligence and wit leavened Governors meetings and indeed any conversation.  A leading authority on Human Rights, for a number of years he was the keynote speaker at the Sixth-Form induction week, and students were dazzled by his nimble arguments and turns of phrase.  His passing is a great loss to the school and the wider community and our thoughts are with his family.

Our Enormous Jumble Sale Saturday 8 November
2 - 4pm

Only 6 Weeks To Go

Dear Parents/Carers,

There are now only 7 weeks to go before our annual jumble sale. This event raises a lot of money for your school, and we would love for you to become involved in whatever way you can.

Please start to think about your winter wardrobe and start to have a clear out. We are not able to take your jumble yet, but we will let you know when you can start bringing it in.

We take clothes, shoes, vintage, bags, bric-a-brac, toys, jewellery, electronics, CDs and vinyl, household linens and smaller items of furniture.

It takes an awful lot of manpower to put this event on and we will need lots of volunteers for Friday 7th and Saturday 8th.

The jumble sale is hard work but great fun. Come and join us.

It’s not too early to sign up to help.

For more information or to sign up, please contact csgjumble@proton.me

With thanks,

Mary and Stephanie
