Maths Battle

Congratulations to Bella 10C, for taking part in a Maths Battle at King’s College University of London on 24 May.

This competition involves teams solving high-level maths problems under time pressure, then presenting and critiquing solutions. Representing the Parallel Academy's Senior Team, comprised of students from across London, Bella was selected due to her strong performance in the Parallel Academy.

Though the team didn't win, they performed exceptionally well and Bella did a terrific job as team captain.

GCSE Art Exhibition

The Art GCSE Exhibition was well attended on the afternoon of 4 June.

There was a lot of admiration for the amazing collection of student work. More work from the show will be on display at the GCSE Art - The Camden School for Girls later on in the year.

Working Options: The Future of Work

What a fantastic day at Google’s offices for Working Options: The Future of Work, The AI Opportunity!

The event brought together students, educators, and employers to explore how AI is reshaping careers and what skills will be essential in the years ahead. The message was clear: courage, emotional intelligence, and adaptability, which I’ve learnt are the foundation skills for success in a fast-changing world.

It was especially empowering to hear from my fellow peers from the London AI Campus, Amyrah and Ajan, who were truly inspiring.

The day offered so many moments to reflect on, especially how AI intersects with social value and the future of industries like construction, which has sparked many questions and curiosity in my mind.

A big thank you to Google and everyone who helped make today happen. With such a meaningful experience, it left me energised for what’s next!

Geography Trip to Scotland

At the end of May, a group of intrepid Y10 and Y12 geography students boarded the Caledonian Sleeper at Euston, bound for Corrour, the UK's highest and remotest railway station.
Carrying all their food and possessions for the coming days on their backs, they hiked to a hostel on the shore of Loch Ossian. By immersing themselves in the landscape, climbing the hills, swimming in the Loch, reading the literature of the Highlands, and talking with the Corrour Estate management, the group built up a powerful Sense of Place that could not have provided a greater contrast (antidote?) to Kentish Town.

The trip was supported by the Royal Geographical Society.

I can't tell you what a fantastic time we all had, and my thanks go to the students who, without exception, combined enthusiasm and good humour with a thirst for knowledge and new experiences. Also to Ms Boardman and Ms Cracknell, simply the best colleagues and friends one could hope to have.
