Count on Us Tournament Heat

Big congratulations to the Camden Squadrilaterals, a group of year 9 students who took part in the Count on Us tournament Heat today.

Count on us is a London wide maths tournament with five competitive maths puzzle rounds, and the team did the school proud by coming first in the heat and securing their place in the final in July.

They committed many lunchtimes to doing the puzzles, which led them to success. They were highly praised by teachers from the competing schools for their quick thinking and algebraic skills.

Well done to Iffy, Lana, Lila, Lily and Sophia!

The maths department is very proud of you and wish you luck for the final.

Go Squadrilaterals!!

UK Chemistry Olympiad

Earlier this year, six Year 13 students sat the UK Chemistry Olympiad - a challenge designed to test chemical knowledge through a written test with real-world chemistry problems. All were very successful, achieving Silver Awards!

A big well done to Naz, Lucas, Bohm, Thalia, Florence, Jenelle and Nina.

Debate Mate Cup

Last week, 16 members of the Debate Mate Club went to UCL to take part in the Debate Mate Cup, a full day of debating at the prestigious university. The day was jam-packed full of debates, both by the students themselves and show debates by teachers and mentors, as well as talks by the university.

The three teams took part in three debates with the following motions:

  • "This House believes the UK should be entirely self-sufficient in energy production"
  • "This House believes that politicians should not have personal social media"
  • "This House believes that public sector workers should be paid equally to professional athletes"

All the teams did extremely well and showed the skills they have been developing over the last few months. One of our teams came 5th overall! A huge achievement!

Well done to all! We continue the club every Monday after school - Room 2.3. If you are interested in joining, do come along!
