    Year 7 students study Computing as a discrete subject and across the curriculum.

    In years 8 and 9 they learn Computing through using it in subjects across the curriculum. This strategy is designed to ensure that relevant use of IT supports learning in all areas.

    As a Google School who use Google Apps for Education students are familiar with using an online learning environment in a range of subjects.  


    Curriculum Information

    Keystage 3 curriculum

    Year 7 (Digital literacy and Computing): ICT @ CSG and Online Safety, Game design in Scratch, Inside a computer and Networking, Logic and introduction to binary, Presentations for a target audience, Searching for information on a database and Google Earth. 

    Year 8 (Computing and use of ICT to solve problems): World of technology -pioneers -past and present, Programming in Python, Web design, Online Safety and Presentations

    Year 9 (The use of ICT to solve problems):  Spreadsheets, Online Safety and digital imaging.

    In Years 10 and 11 students may choose IT or Computer Science as an option. 

    •  OCR Cambridge Nationals in IT - 50% exam, 50% controlled assessment
    •  OCR Computer Science 100% exam.

    Students also have further lessons on Online Safety in year 10 and 11 via the PSHEE curriculum


    All students and staff use Google Apps for education, which is accessible both in school and outside school. In addition all students and staff  access to London Grid for Learning (LGFL) apps.
